About Me.

My name is Gielenn (pronounced juh-lynn) but most people just call me “G”. While celebrating 4th of July in 2021, I was changing out of my bathing suit when I happened to come across a pea-sized lump. Shortly after returning from vacation, I went to my doctor and after several tests, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (HR+, Her2-).

I completed 9 months of treatment to include 8 rounds of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, 25 rounds of radiation and revision surgery. In June of 2022 I was declared to be in remission and started endocrine & targeted therapy to keep the cancer away.

I’m currently navigating survivorship – focusing on creating a new “normal” and prioritizing my mental health & spending time with my family & loved ones. I’m a military spouse, mother of two young kids & work as an Events Manager for a military base in California. In my free time, I love attending concerts, trying new foods/restaurants & binge-watching TV shows.

I’m honored to be chosen as a 2023 Lioness.

I’m figuring out life after cancer one day at a time 💜
